What Customers Say About Samsung BD-P1400 1080p Blu-Ray Disc Player:

The only DVD that failed to load the first time was Ironman, the player just shut off, powered down, tried again & it worked. I keep the firmware up-to-date by downloading the lastest iso from the Samsung site, burning it as an "image" to cd-r, insert it in the player, which instantly recognizes it as a firmware upgrade.follow the prompts & it's done(approximately 20 minutes). This is one of the earlier blu-ray players, but probably one of the best ones at the time I bought it. Bought this player from Best Buy in October 2007 for $399.99 and have very few major problems with it. The player buttons don't respond on a couple of my blu-ray movies at the end of the movie, unless I press the Stop button just before the credits. The picture quality and sound is excellent and it does a decent job of upconverting regular DVD's. It has no problems playing movies or photos that I've burned to DVD on my computer(dvd-r, dvd-rw, cd-r), you just have to have the correct software & knowledge on how to compile & burn the movies.Blu-ray dvd's are slow to load, but I've never owned any other blu-ray player for comparison. If this happens, just power off & on, then the disc can be ejected.Overall, it has been an excellent & reliable blu-ray player. It's been discontinued, but I'll buy another later model Samsung when this one dies.FYI, PC World gives top rating to Panasonic & Samsung blu-ray players.

I think it was refurbished but it was not fixed. Later other problems arose. I do not watch many movies on it. I probably noticed on the second movie that it was skipping but thought it was disk. Since refurbed, the warranty had expired. I do not use today.

I will load them one day and they work fine, the next time they don't. When I told them I had the latest version, they said to wait for a new Firmware release. Lately, it seems like more and more of the new BR discs have this problem. The machine tries to load, then eventually says "This disc can not be played." Up until now, a Firmware update has fixed this. I've had this player since November 2007. No thanks. When I told them I used the cleaning disc, they said to update the Firmware. I called customer support again, they said use compressed air to clean the lens.

Wow, great customer support. They told me to use a BR cleaning disc. Every once in a while, I have had problems with a BR disc not working. That they come out every 3-4 months. It got so irritating I called their customer support. I bought one, the BR discs still did not work. Your player does not play the latest Blu-Ray discs, so I have to wait until who knows when for a Firmware upgrade. I have had it with Samsung and am going to look at purchasing a different brand.

This is one of the worst Blu-ray players on the market. -It can take up to 60 seconds to eject a disc-It rarely plays back a disc without problems, this includes DVDs that play fine on my Mac Mini-Video quality is fine, but not worth the $All-in-all I am very disappointed with the quality of this BR player. I wish I had either waited a couple years for the technology to mature or bought something that didn't suck. This player is so bad we canceled our NetFlix Blu-ray membership and switched back to regular DVDs. In reality you can't tell much of a difference unless you look at the pictures side by side (which you can only do in the store).

I got this player on January 2008, and as for now, no mayor problems. If you keep it updated (latest firmware) you should'nt have any problem.
